Saudi MOH Reports 1 Primary (Camel Contact) MERS Case

#11,273

We are halfway through the month of April, and today the Saudi MOH announces their 10th MERS case of the month, and the 4th to involve camel contact.

While camel-to-human transmission has previously been a small, but important, component of MERS epidemiology, with fewer large hospital outbreaks this year, they have become a more prominent fixture in these daily reports.

As Buraidah's extended community & hospital outbreak last month showed, respites in large clusters can be short lived, and as long as sporadic primary cases keep turning up, hospital infection control vigilance is paramount.

Today's case involves a 54 y.o. male, listed in stable condition, with recent camel contact.
