Hebei Province Reports Rare H7N9 Case

Although China normally releases H7N9 information in monthly batches
(see China Reports 11 H7N9 Cases (7 Fatalities) In April) we occasionally see local reports on individual cases issued by local governments or carried by official state media.

Today, China's National Emergency Radio Network has a report on a recent H7N9 case in Hebei Province, who became symptomatic on May 10th.  

What makes this case a bit more interesting that most is that this is only the 2nd H7N9 case reported out of Hebei province in the four years since the virus emerged.

In the short history of H7N9 in China, case reports normally dropp off dramatically in May, and remain rare throughout the summer. The virus, however, continues to evolve, and so we keep close tabs year round looking for any signs that its behavior is changing.
