Alabama To Announce 3 Bird Flu Outbreaks

Location of last week's H7N9 Outbreaks In Tennessee

UPDATED: Streaming TV coverage (WFSA-TV) of the press conference cut away after only a few minutes, so details are few.  But local testing was conducted on poultry from three regions (including Lauderdale County & Scottsboro, both along Tennessee border), and their results prompted them to be forwarded to the APHIS lab in Ames, Iowa for futher analysis.

So far, nothing on the APHIS website, and the Alabama Ag Website hasn't posted a statement.  Hopefully we'll learn more as the day progresses.

Details are scant at the moment but Alabama's Department of Agriculture will hold a press conference in less than an hour to announce the detection of 3 bird flu outbreaks in the northern part of the state, reportedly near the outbreaks reported last week in Tennessee

At this time we don't have any word as to whether these outbreaks are HPAI or LPAI.

Stay tuned.
